Estes Farms Welcomes a New Fury Friend!
If you’ve driven by Estes Farms in the last month, you might have noticed our newest roadside attraction moseying around the previously empty north field. Ollie joined the Cassidy family after owner, Kyle Estes, saw a listing for a 1-year-old miniature donkey online. “He was just so cute and looked like he would be a great addition to the farm,” Estes confessed, “and we had the perfect home for him.”
Ollie anxiously arrived at the farm, but quickly settled in after realizing he was quite literally the talk of the town. Now an instant celebrity with charisma even the Clydesdales can’t deny, Ollie has welcomed his new role as the farm heartthrob. This little donkey, standing at 2’11", has a bit of a beer gut, a constantly wagging tail, curious ears, and big sweet eyes. His unique color and markings distinguish him from other, inferior donkeys and make him the bestest boy (at least that’s what we tell him).
According to his previous owner, Ollie loves Christmas cookies and hats. Well, he might not know it yet, but Ollie has hit an Orphan Annie-level Jackpot. Part of Cassidy Station’s history includes Estes’s infamous grandma who was known for making a spread of Christmas cookies for the holiday season. Cookie Grandma, as she came to be known, is the inspiration behind Cassidy Station’s annual Christmas cookie decorating workshops. So, it is safe to say that this Christmas might prove to be most promising for Ollie. And don’t worry, the mostly female staff at Cassidy Station is eager to dress up Ollie in various hats and costumes.
Over time, Ollie’s personality has developed into a softer version of the stubborn donkey stereotype. He loathes baths and loud noises, but loves chew toys, peppermint treats, and head scratches. He brays when people don’t pay enough attention to him, but promptly turns his back and walks away when the attention is no longer convenient for him. Visitors don't seem to mind the silly donkey's childish tendencies as his childlikeness further extends to his Instagram-worthy cuteness (see pictures).
